Do we accept walk ins for surgery appointments? No, all surgeries require an appointment and are made online.
Do we have a voucher program for free spay/neuters? No, we do not have a voucher program; however, we accept vouchers from several rescues/shelters in the area. Brunswick County residents can contact Brunswick County Animal Services for vouchers. Wilmington Animal Centrix (wilmingtonanimalcentrix.org) and Pawsability (Paws-ability.org) are great organizations that provide vouchers/assistance for spay and neuter surgeries.
Can I make one appointment for multiple pets? No, each pet needs their own appointment. If you need surgery appointments on the same day and are having trouble, please select the next available surgery day and in the comments/additional info part of the request, make a note that you would like all on "x" day and we will make every effort to accommodate.
Can I come in at a later time on surgery day? No, all dogs are required to be at the clinic at 7:30am and cats at 8:00am on surgery day. We are able to keep costs low by having a small staff and have a very strict surgery schedule.
Can I reschedule my appointment? No, we do not reschedule appointments. Please call, leave a message to cancel your appointment and then you can go online and select a new appointment that works better for your schedule. Your original appointment deposit is forfeited and you will need to pay a new deposit.
Can we spay a pregnant or in heat female? Yes, up to a certain point. Please make an appointment request online for the first available surgery date and include a comment noting "pregnant" and we will try to find a way to work them in asap. Females in heat are a more vascular surgery that our veterinarians are experienced with and do frequently. An extra week added to the post op recovery of no strenuous activity is recommended.
What days are we open? We are open Monday thru Thursday for surgery. We are closed Memorial Day, the week of 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after and Christmas Eve through New Year's Day.
Can we check for a microchip in an animal you have found? Yes, you can walk in to the clinic on surgery days (Monday thru Thursday) between 10:00am and 1:00pm. You can also go to any full service veterinary hospital or your county animal services to have a pet checked for a microchip.
Do we take in stray animals/animals needing homes? No, we are a veterinary clinic and do not operate as a shelter/rescue. If you are not able to hold onto a pet you have found, please contact your county animal services or reach out to rescues in your area.
Do we provide pick up and drop off services? No, all pets need to be brought to our physical location for their appointments.
Do we provide live animal traps for the trapping of feral cats? No, we do not have traps to loan out. We had tried to have a program to loan traps but that did not work out as the majority of our traps were never returned. You can contact your local animal shelter to see if they can provide traps, purchase at Lowes or online or contact Aunt Kerry's Pet Stop in Wilmington where they have a trap you can borrow (deposit required).
Can I bring multiple cats in one carrier/trap? No, each cat must be in its own carrier/trap. If you have trapped two cats in one trap, please do not attempt to remove. Bring them in one trap with an empty carrier for post op recovery.
Do we accept walk ins for wellness appointments/vaccinations? No, all wellness exams require an appointment and are made online. A pet that has had its initial vaccinations at our clinic may walk in for the boosters
Do we euthanize animals? No, we do not euthanize animals. You will need to contact a full service veterinary clinic or your local animal services. There are also several mobile hospice vets in the area.
Can we do a time sensitive spay for a female dog or cat with pyometra (uterine infection)? No, we are not set up as a full service veterinary hospital and due to the critical nature of these surgeries, they need to be done in a full service veterinary hospital.
Can we perform other types of surgeries (orthopedic, etc)? No, we are not set up as a full service veterinary hospital equipped handle a broad spectrum of surgeries.
Do we declaw cats? No, never! It is only done for human convenience and it is amputating the last bone of each toe on a cat's paw to remove their claw, similar to cutting off human fingers at the last knuckle. We strongly suggest researching what is involved in declawing a cat and possible lasting physical and behavioral problems it an cause.
Do we do dental cleanings? No, we do not perform dental cleanings.
Do we remove dew claws? No, we do not remove dew claws.
Does a licensed veterinarian perform the surgeries? Yes. NC state law mandates that any person performing surgery on an animal be a licensed veterinarian by the North Carolina State Veterinary Board. You can view our veterinarians’ credentials on the About Us page.
